Any of you lot use audible?
Mrs has been talking about getting me a subscription for Christmas as I love books but after a whole day staring a spreadsheets and business cases I can’t be bothered to read.

Has anyone got it? Is it worth getting the full subscription or is what you get free with amazon prime (which I think basically means you can only stream not download) good enough?

Cheers in advance

Re: Any of you lot use audible?
I usually go to sleep listening to an audiobook. Not because they're boring, but because they relax me and get me listening rather than thinking.

You can get through a huge amount of books if you listen to them at the gym, in the car, when you're running etc. They make running and the gym less boring for me.

Also worth noting that a lot of them are narrated by the author. Great for stuff like Bill Bryson

And leave it there? That's mastery of suspense. :-)

Both my crime thrillers are on Audible. Just thought I'd mention it.

Been using it for a long time now, absolutely love it. Some highlights include David Attenborough narrating his own autobiography, various actors reading Ian Fleming's James Bond books, and Jeremy Paxman's autobiography - read by Paxman. Really glad I started treating myself to Audible a few years back.

If you do long drives then do it

If you run then then do it

If you have Alexa then do it

If you like books then do it

£7.99 a month but everything I threaten to leave they give me the offer of saying for a further 3 months for £3.99 a month. Happened twice already so incredibly cheap.

Re: Any of you lot use audible?
I've listened to audiobooks on YouTube that were originally Audible recordings. What I've listened to thus far have been very good. The readings are not dry nor are they overly camp. I listen to them on the way to and from work. They really help pass the time.

Thinking of getting a subscription now meself.

I think they stop the monthly payments when you've accumulated six unused credits, and start again when it drops below six.

Great thanks

Just trying to figure out I what I’d get free thrhoigh prime would be enough as prime is the same price as a normal audible subscription

Yes, I usually have about 3 ready for me when I decide to use them

Can you carry credits over if you don’t use them?

Re: Any of you lot use audible?
I pay the sub, well worth it. the one free credit a month can actually translate to more than one free book. I got the entire Sherlock Holmes collection, narrated by Stephen Fry, for just one credit. that's 100's of hours right there.

You get to keep these if you continue the sub or not

Re: Any of you lot use audible?
Subscription is £7.99 per month, which gives you 1 credit per month that can be used in exchange for any book in the audible library. This is held in the “cloud” and can be downloaded onto your device for listening. There is an excellent selection of books available mostly read by excellent narrators. Once purchased, the book will always be available to you.
The app which can be readily downloaded from play store allows you to set up your listening time as suits you.
The books can be expensive to buy (£25 or more), but there is an option to purchase 3 extra credits for £18, which basically gives you books for £6. Also, if you have a Kindle library and have a particular title, the audible title is often available at a reduced price.
